EIGHTH TASK
DIRECTIONS: In your blog write your autobiography by enhacing your schooling experiences and the development of your bilingual literacy skills.
When I
knew that I had to write my own autobiography of English learning and teaching
process, I had to go back many years ago when everything started. As my mother’s
family had been very good at languages, I think that for that reason, I was
able to learn a second language.
I have
to say that when I was at high school, I was the “nerd” student in English, because
I was the one who always had the best grades and most of my classmates were jealous.
This process of learning English is also kind of interesting thanks to I met
some foreign people and it was amazing when it happened.
At the
age of 12 years old, I realized that I really liked this language I knew that I
had to learn it faster due to the fact that since I was very young, I always
said that I was going to move to London, it did not happen, so sad. My mom
found an institute which was the best one in that time so, she paid for many semesters
in there in order to start improving my English skills. I was there for 4 years
going each Friday of my life and, as a result, I learnt a lot, I made many friends
and I met the love of my life in that time.
While
I was in the institute, I was at school finishing my high school years. I
graduated with high scores in English but in mathematics, for that reason, I
could not apply to any engineering degree. Then, I was thinking about why I
wanted to apply for theses careers when I was not good at math and I found that
my mom did not want to let me apply for any language degree or something
related to teaching. It was a hard time thanks to my mom was not going to pay
for a degree unless it was an engineering one. But I figured it out, I told her
that I was going to apply for one of those but actually, I was applying for
this beautiful career. As it is usual in my life, I was not accepted in the
first round and I did not know what to do in my life. This moment of my life
was the hardest one because if I was not going to study there, I was not going
to do anything for 6 months. I had to wait for the second round of results and
I made it.
Suddenly, here
I am, coursing my last semester in the ELT program but I am not sure if
I really want to teach because, I feel not well prepared to do it. I truly
believe that being a teacher is one of the hardest works ever, and it afraid
me.
